MUSIC
Bill & Joe - My 1960 Folk Duo
For as long as I can remember, music has been a central part of my life.
I played in a Folk Duo during the big 'Folk Scare' in the late 50s.
When I moved to San Francisco to do my undergraduate work at San Francisco State College in the mid 60's, I lived in the Haight/Ashbury, discovered electric guitar, and joined a Rock and Roll band (A Cast of Thousands). The band was successful locally and were even negotiating a record deal when I left for Canada.
After I moved to Canada to do my graduate work, I continued to play in bands and later when I taught college, my teaching partner (Steve Good) and I developed a system of using music to reinforce our classroom instruction. We were invited to Tennessee to mentor classroom instructors in our system.
Now that I am retired and fully devoted to my Buddhist practice, music has become an integral part of my training.
I will try and use this section of the site to share some of my playing, share my insights about 'music dharma', and generally have a good time.
